For the last year, Hawkstone Physical Therapy has been offering Personal Training with our very own Exercise Therapist and Exercise Physiologist, Meagan.
January is a month where a lot of people think about their fitness and goals for the new year. Need help setting goals? Check out last month's blog post here: https://www.hawkstonept.com/exercise-of-the-month/goal-setting
Why not a start your fitness journey in a place where you know you'll be safe and taken care of?
I recently sat down with Meagan to find out a little more about what she offers:
How long have you been in the fitness industry?
I spent 4 years as a Personal Fitness Trainer at a local studio and i've been an Exercise Therapist at Hawkstone for the past 5 years, 2 as a CEP.
What kinds of people do you train?
I mostly work with clients who are recovering from and injury after they've graduated from Physio and people with co-morbidities like high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, etc. I also train people who are working with disability claims to return to work.
What can someone expect from their first session with you?
The first session, like physio, is an assessment. I look at their strength, how they move, and a cardiovascular test. They will get a home program after adequate exercise teaching and education on how to train with and injury.
How often would someone train with you?
That really depends on their goals and level of independence, sometimes once per week, sometimes once per month.
What is your favourite exercise?
Anything glutes and back, I love deadlifts and rows.
What is your least favourite exercise?
My brain struggles with cardio so I have to convince myself to get it done.
