Emily graduated from the University of Alberta in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. In 2006, she pursued studying acupuncture and completed her certification through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute. In 2009, she was certified in Spinal Manipulative Therapy. In 2011, Emily completed her certification of Gunn IMS (Intramuscular Stimulation). She is currently pursuing her Pregnancy and Postpartum Physical Therapy certification through the American Physical Therapy Section on Women’s Health. In order to keep her skills current and applicable to her clients, Emily has taken a number of complimentary courses including Fit Fore Golf, Assessment & Treatment of TMJ, Therapeutic Taping and Osteoporosis Treatment Strategies. She believes strongly in client education and researched based techniques. Practicing both nationally and internationally, Emily has had experience working in Jasper, Montreal, and Adelaide, Australia.

Emily has taught injury prevention classes at various Running Room locations in Edmonton and St. Albert. She has also written physical therapy columns for the St. Albert Gazette. Emily’s experience encompasses treating sport injuries, post surgical rehabilitation, patients injured in motor vehicle accidents, as well as a variety of common aches and pains.  As a mom, she has a particular interest in treating pregnancy pains and postpartum concerns.

Emily is an active supporter for cancer research, including involvement with Run for the Cure, Movember, Bust a Move and the Cross Cancer Institute Triathlon.

In her spare time, Emily enjoys spending time with her husband and sons, participating in community events with family and friends, and staying active with recreational running, golfing and yoga.
